The first activity asks students to define 'explorer' and list the pros and cons. For example, pros could be money and fame, and cons could be diseases or pirates. This is a good introduction activity to get students talking and thinking about the topic.
The second activity is then a short persuasive writing piece that asks students whether they would want to be an explorer or not, and argue their reasons.
Students can then have a class debate on the topic, which my students loved doing!
