Great First Day of School Activity that allows for a creative way to "seat" students. Students get a clue card and they must first determine what the clue is describing (i.e. a certain continent, ocean, grid line, country, etc...). Then they must find the desk/table with a picture of that feature identified on a world map. This activity challenges students' knowledge of basic world geography, map skills, and use of resources. This activity can also be used as an "icebreaker" or grouping strategy by distributing clue cards to half of the class and map cards to the other half. You can also differentiate for SPED or ELLs by labeling the back of the map card with the name of the feature. Differentiate for gifted learners by asking them to add a fact about the feature, not already mentioned in the clue, to the back of the card with a dry erase marker. The possibilities are endless!
Contains 32 clue cards and 32 matching map pictures. An answer key presentation to go over with students is also included. The cards can be printed on Name Badge size labels and stuck to an index card or printed on card stock or regular paper and cut out.
