This three week project allows students to learn through research about an engaging academic topic - parasites! Students research parasitic infections to create a written communication product (such as a pamphlet, poster, or comic). They use strategies such as annotation, cornell notes, and review multiple types of resources. Through this project students will learn about symbiotic relationships, parasitic infection vocabulary, world health issues, the human body, alternative forms of reproduction, challenging life cycles, and more! Included in this package is the project description, a list of choice infections with a lot of available resarch, a rubric for standards-based grading, a rubric for points-based grading, a note taking sheet, a three week timeline for students to follow as they work, a commitment form, and a set of web resource links. You will need to provide book resources to students (I got mine from the library) and the specific annotations you use at your school - or invent your own!
