One of the best ways to get students to understand political cartoons is to provide them with guided annotations. This is a strategy that came to me one day, and I realized how easy it was to put together so I have been doing it since. And the kids love it because it helps them to understand all the little symbolisms that they wouldn’t have otherwise been able to discern on their own.
This includes TWO cartoonS with guided fill in the blank questions. One is about Louis XIV and Marie Antoinette, and the other about the Old Regime. .
