This lesson is designed to last for an hour of class time or longer. Students will continue to build their background knowledge about the Age of Imperialism and China’s involvement. Students will also identify and show their understanding about Qing Dynasty and their leaders by answering open-ended questions and completing a comic book activity.
At the end of this lesson, students are expected to answer and accomplish the following:
1. Describe what a dynasty is?
2. How would you summarize the rise and fall of the Qing Dynasty?
3. List and describe three pros and three cons related to Dynasty Ruling.
4. What are your thoughts about Dynasty ruling? Do you think it’s a good or a bad thing? Please support your opinion with information from a secondary source and background knowledge.
This lesson provides teachers with a warm-up activity, whole group activity, individual assignment, and project ideas.
