This 120+ minute lesson plan is designed to help students learn more about Martin Luther and the 95 Theses. This plan fits in well with all the other lessons provided in my store about the Renaissance. The students will work in small groups and pick a controversial topic they all feel passionate about. Then, they will create their own version of Martin Luther’s “95 Theses.”
(DOK 1) Who was Martin Luther?
(DOK 2) Can you explain how The 95 Theses affected religious practices during the renaissance age?
(DOK 3) How would you adapt the leadership of Martin Luther to create a different outcome in how people protested the actions of the church?
(DOK 4) Using “The 95 Theses handouts” choose 3 statements that standout to you. Next, explain why you chose these three statements and what impact you think it probably made on people during that time period.
This complete lesson plan includes videos, Kagan strategies, project ideas, DOK instruction, differentiation for SPED/ELL/Gifted, and supplemental materials that can easily be adjusted to fit your classroom needs.
