In this approximate 120 minute lesson plan can be adjusted to fit the needs of any classroom. This is geared specifically for high school world history. Students will learn more about Reformation and take notes to prepare in a class wide debate about key issues raised by this topic. This lesson plan focuses on the following questions:
(DOK 1) How would you describe the reformation in your own words?
(DOK 2) Can you explain how Martin Luther affected the Catholic Church?
(DOK 3) Can you predict the outcome if Martin Luther never spoke his mind?
(DOK 4) We have all been in a situation when we don’t agree with something. Some of us have confidence to speak up, while some of us would rather keep to ourselves. Write a one page paper about an issue that you wish you could change similar to the way Martin Luther handled it. Explain what the problem is, why the problem is bad, and what you honestly think will solve the problem.
This complete lesson plan includes videos, Kagan strategies, project ideas, DOK instruction, differentiation for SPED/ELL/Gifted, and supplemental materials that can easily be adjusted to fit your classroom needs.
