This is an approximate 100-120 minute lesson plan that can be adjusted to meet the needs of any classroom. This lesson will help students build their background knowledge about The Colonial Expansion by completing a variety of tasks and through the use of real-world examples. Students will also learn the impact that colonialism has had in history.
At the end of this lesson, students are expected to answer the following questions:
1. How would describe the colonial expansion in your own words?
2. Can you explain how the colonial expansion affected people in Europe?
3. Can you predict the outcome if the colonial expansion never happened?
4. Imagine that you were alive during the colonial expansion. If you had the opportunity to make expansions to a different country other than America, which one country would you choose? Why?
