This lesson incorporates a PowerPoint presentation that gives a variety of examples of cave art and asks students to observe and discover what was important to these early people. This lesson is cross-curricular/interdisciplinary and connects with social studies, art, science, and language arts. Students use their art to find clues about their culture and way of life and use it as evidence to write about the early people. The PowerPoint also teaches students about how early people created their paint by using earth minerals. Then students create their own cave art style picture. A cave art template is included, or have your students go big with a large paper and make your own collaborative cave wall in your classroom! Break from the book with this fun, interactive lesson! Great for multiple intelligences!
