Here is what is included:
1. CRASH COURSE VIDEO GUIDES 1-42:
CRASH COURSE 1-42
Here is what is included in this 4 page download:
1. Note Taking Guide for Students:
This is essentially a blank section to take notes in.
2. Summary of the Video:
A place for the students to write a short summary of what they have watched.
3. Teacher Notes from the:
My 1 page of notes.
4. Vocabulary Section:
I have chosen 3 words that would be good to have the students look up. I also have them write each of the words in a sentence.
5. Quiz for students / with answers:
There is a 10 question quiz with answers from the episode. It can be taken in class or taken home. I think in class would be better.
2. STAAR MAGAZINE PROJECT:
This assignment is for the STAAR test specifically. It directs students in researching each standard and putting together a magazine of sorts with a collection of memos addressing each standard. I used this for years and my pass/fail rate was close to 90%. This combined with some of the other things I have in this bundle make for an effective review.
3. GIFT ASSIGNMENT:
- Here is the link to the digital creation tool if students are interested:
This is probably the best assignment I have done with my students as it is a pictorial representation of the chapter being studied. It is a fantastic way for students to process and show what they are learning visually. I have attached a sample and directions for the gift as well as a list of vocab words that I expect to be included. This makes it more clear for the students as I go through the book picking 4-5 words per section which create a focus for the students as they go through the assignment. If you need more samples please email me.
Here is the article that goes with the sketch note approach.
4. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS FULL YEAR
Here is what is included in this 14-page download:
1. Questions to Discuss: Each student will get a copy of some really great questions to discuss with another student or with the class.
2. Teacher Lesson Plans: I have also included my lesson plans on how I use the discussion questions in a 50-minute class.
3. PowerPoint: Just an easy and visual way for students to see what they are supposed to do.
I know that I need to have my students talk more with each other as well with me to make sure that they are engaged. This is a great list of discussion questions that can be used over the course of 2 days or 1. I think that it works best if you pick the questions that you want and go over like 10 of them in class. I also like to have the students work and discuss with each other. This is just a big list of good opinion and fact based questions from the time period.
5. REVIEW PACKET:
This is an in class review packet. It reviews everything that does not get taught in class. I have the students try and fill it out by themselves and then go over with them in class. They must have it finished before I go over it. The first day they work on it I have them work by themselves and then the second day they work with a partner. The third day is when I go over everything with the students.
6. STAAR VIDEO:
This is a collection of videos that match up with each standard and substandard. I will email you the link to GOOGLE DRIVE. Over 100 short videos that are 3-4 minutes in length.
I am also including my cloud biography videos that I use throughout the year. These focus on separate individuals throughout history.
7. TEXAS STAAR PRACTICE TESTS:
I just downloaded these to make it convenient. These are not for sale and are only included to save a step. I have 2011 and 2013 tests in the bundle.
8. STAAR PRACTIVE TESTS:
These are all the documents needed to take and correct practice tests that are standards based. I have included all the answer document, the correction sheet, the STAAR feedback sheet, and the EC assignment I give, as well as the practice tests for CA. I have also included some extra questions to review for the test as well as a 20 question test I used in my classroom. There are at least 3 different ways to quiz or test the students to allow them to practice for the test.
9. EDITORIAL ASSIGNMENT:
This is an assignment where the students get to write their own editorial for things studied in WORLD HISTORY. I would potentially pick controversial issues that might be on the STAAR test.
In this section, I have added all the things that do not really fit above.
1. CST review guide.
2. 10th grade standards
3. Test taking strategies
4. I have also added 95 additional questions to over with students
5. I did not have time to type up all the keys so this is a scan of all of them.
6. Another review packet that I happen to have
7. WWII summary in case you did not get to teach it and just want to go over it in class.
11. WRITING PROMPTS:
These are all my writing prompts with the paragraph sheet. This is a great way to have students write about different topics through the world history curriculum.
