This lecture is designed to teach high school students about the Nanjing Massacre, a wartime atrocity the Japanese committed against the Chinese citizens of the city of Nanjing during WWII. I designed it for an AP level class, but it also good for a standard class. In fact, this lecture is excellent for sparking discussion.
The lecture is written so that you can easily print it out and read from the notes. I suggest taking your time with the content, and saving room for questions and discussion. I also suggest you give students the freedom to leave the room if they need to.
There is also a powerpoint of images for this lecture. Some of the images are very, very disturbing, so delete as necessary. (I put in all the relevant images so that you, the buyer, have the choice of what to show the class. I strongly caution you to think carefully about what you show).
