This is the advanced version
of my popular WordReference.com - Introductory Webquest
**Even though this webquest is designed for a Spanish class, the same activity can apply in ANY World Language classroom.
The document can be edited, so "Spanish" can be changed to any language.
In my Spanish classes, it is forbidden to use translation sites such as Google Translate simply because not enough context is given to select the correct translation. Instead, I teach my students to use www.WordReference.com.
However, this site can be tricky since it gives you so much information about the word.
Therefore, this is a handy webquest that not only introduces students to WordReference, but also teaches them how to utilize the more advanced features of the site.
Students will practice using the following features of the site:
1) the basic translation
2) the "parts of speech" symbols
3) the different versions of the word
in various Spanish-speaking countries
3) the verb conjugation
4) the public forum
This was especially helpful in my Spanish 2+ class.
Also, there is a WordReference app that works very similarly to the website.
An answer key is provided.
