Product Description
Two crosswords based on last week's news events. Suitable for middle and high school students.

What did the Saudi Prince say about Donald Trump? Dengue fever and swine flu. Iran, Rwanda, Kenya and Geneva. What did Russia send to France? Where should Russians not go for their holidays? And what was the very big deal in Paris?

The puzzles can be used as an individual or small-group activity by middle and high school students. I think they work best when 2-4 students work together, competing against other groups (because kids can't help being competitive). Apple and Samsung are spending bazillions of dollars convincing the kids to use smartphones and so I suggest teachers embrace that, and let the students use their phones to explore last week's news events.

Let the children chat about the clues and what they think about the news stories. Copy some of the puzzles and have them in your bag for when you have to substitute for a sick colleague.

And don't forget to come back for next week's World News Crosswords.
