Product Description
Hello!
I'm Zac, a secondary English teacher from Australia. Let me tell you more about this resource.

Audience:
This 12 slide powerpoint model is a poetry analysis presentation I created for students who are studying world poetry movements. The presentation analyses Bob Marley's Redemption Song as an example Rastafarianism. This task was specifically designed for Senior English students in Year 11 and 12.

Content:
On each slide, in the notes section, there is the analysis which can be read aloud and it matches the quotes and imagery on each slide. The presentation runs for 7 to 10 minutes and integrates the key quotes from the poem, including the poetic terminology with the context of Marley's life and Rastafari movement. The powerpoint also contains a live recording of the song embedded on the initial slide so students can hear Marley's pleading tone in his voice.

Teaching and Learning:
I have used this oral poetry analysis successfully many times to show students what a senior poetry seminar or presentation should look like. I've added my own interpretation and integrated key quotes to support my analysis of the poet and the movement which echoes what students need to do. This presentation is an model poetry presentation so I get students to mark my delivery of the presentation against the criteria on their task sheets such as pacing, tone, intonation, pause, gesture etc. Then students can discuss the criteria and arrive at a grade. Then they have to give positive and critical feedback on how I could improve the presentation. Click the preview to see the transcript analysis or watch video.

I hope you find this helpful. If you have a question, please ask and I'll respond within 48 hours. Also, if you have time please check out my other resources, including the freebies.
