Description
Studying human populations? Need something to take a class period that's more than just busy work, and actually relates to what students are learning? Look no further!
Great for distance/virtual learning & sub plans, too.
To do this assignment, students need access to the World Population Data Sheets from 2015 & 2020, put out by the Population Reference Bureau.
- 2015 pdf (focus on women’s empowerment)
- 2020 pdf (free download- will need to put in your info to get it; focus on world health/pandemic)
In the past, I used this activity with General Biology (10th grade), but I no longer teach that course. I now use it with APES during Unit 3, Populations. If you use this with a Gen Bio class or similar, make sure to skim the questions and define anything they might not know- infant mortality rate, TFR, more vs less developed countries (and connections between IFR/TFR/development of the country), etc.
This is ready to drop in Google Classroom, Schoology, or you can print it. I give my kids a class period (45 minutes) & the rest is homework.
Answer key is included at the end.
