Product Description
Our students needed practice learning the difference between facts and opinions so we created this activity around facts of world records where students write their own record book once they're done.

Our fourth and fifth graders LOVED it so much, we modified it slightly for our third and sixth graders in our school (but the last activity can be done with any grade in any school setting).

The first activity is a scoot style game where students can go around your classroom to decide if the twenty-four task cards are facts or opinions.

The second activity sends students on a fact finding mission through non-fiction books or the internet to find their own facts and opinions.

The third has students use the facts from the first two activities to write their own paragraph about what they have learned. Students learn to find key words, take jot note, write facts in their own words and summarize for the main idea.

Lastly, the fourth activity helps your students write their own record book based on records in your school or classroom. The page numbers in this section have been removed so the pages can be placed in any order. This activity can be done ALL YEAR! It is a great way to build community in your classroom and is perfect for back to school.

The kids LOVED doing the first part of the activity just to get to the second half. We are doing this same activity again this year, so we can publish our third edition SCHOOLWIDE. Be sure to take a look at the preview.

Be sure to check out some of our other English Language Arts products. We have a whole year's worth of writing prompts in every format you can imagine!
