Some people mistakenly believe that public schools are not allowed to teach about religion. It is true that we are not allowed to PREACH about a religion, nor are we allowed to teach that one religion is better than another. Perhaps that is what many people find difficult. But I believe that the world will be a much happier, more peaceful place when we all have an understanding of one another’s religions.
This is a three week project which can certainly be altered. Small groups research important elements of a world religion, write a script for "A Day in the Life of a Follower" and perform a skit for the class. Each individual student earns an individual research grade for notecards, and their individual performance in the skit. The group earns a grade for the overall skit and overall performance.
