This is used in my high school Humanities course, which explores what it means to be human through studying religion, art, philosophy, literature, and history. This research project is meant for groups of 2-3. Students research the major world religions, create a presentation, and present it to the class. There is also a written reflection component, where students are asked to reflect on how religion influences culture and tells us what it means to be human.
An evaluation rubric for the presentation is included. The religions included are Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Confucianism and Daoism, Buddhism, and Animism/Paganism & Tribal Religions, but you can easily adapt and change the topics to fit your needs!
