These word problems are written about information provided in tables and within the problems themselves. There are problems involving calculating scores, number of hits as fractions, cost of tickets and food, attendance, etc. There is one section of problems involving perimeter and area at Kauffman Stadium and A T & T Park.
I have posted a separate activity comprised of area and perimeter problems for Grades 3, 4, and 5. The Grade 5 problems from that collection are included in this one, so if you are interested in area and perimeter specifically you might want to check that out..
These problems use all four whole number operations. Some problems involve writing equivalent fractions and simplifying. The position of the unknowns vary according to how the problems are stated. Most of the problems are 2- or multi-step with a combination of operations.
There is a final section of problems involving decimal averages (batting average) and percents which can be left for later if you haven’t yet arrived at that point in the curriculum.
There are 30 problems some with several sub-problems. Space is provided to write all equations and do calculations.
