In this activity, students will be exploring a wide variety of topics related to World War I. This activity can be done individually or with a partner and is located entirely in Google Slides. Students do not need to be provided any other resources to accompany this activity. The activity begins with a look at an interactive slide show of key terms with primary source images and an interactive timeline of key events.
It then provides students resources and activities on the topics of:
- trenches (interactive museum tour with guided audio)
-tanks (BBC explore site)
-propaganda (video + student research)
-the Red Baron (video)
-Munitionettes (primary source audio)
-discrimination in WWI (primary source document)
-the Harlem Hell Fighters (short video)
-the Choctaw telephone squad (news article)
-the role of Mexico and the Zimmerman telegram (video)
Please view the video above for more information on the activity. This product works best in a one-to-one classroom, or at a time when you can access a computer lab or check out computers or tablets for 2-3 (45-60 minute) class periods in a row.
This is a great activity to use after at least briefly introducing the topic as students are exploring more specific elements of the war in detail.
**This activity only works in edit mode on Google Slides. If you try to type into the activity while in present mode, it will not work. More directions for accessing the product are located on the first two slides of the download.
