World War I Propaganda Poster Lesson:
This three-step lesson plan explores the use of propaganda posters in World War I. Step one hits the basics—what is propaganda and how is it used (historically and today). Step 2 takes the students on an online search to explore real-life propaganda posters used during the Great War, where the students are asked to analyze their findings. Step 3 takes the study of propaganda to the next level DOK—students will then have to create their own propaganda poster (comprehensive rubric included). The last page of the lesson plan is for teachers only—it is a simple outline of the lesson and some helpful hints about the lesson itself.
The three steps will take three days-- but depending on your class size and time-frame this lesson unusually takes about 4 to 6 days (depending on how long you give the students to work on their posters).
