This product is a game-changer for your World War I unit. Your students will love this game and ask to play again and again. Best of all, they will learn a lot about the war.
The game is based off a realistic simulation of the First World War. Your students are divided into seven teams and will play for Great Britain, Russia, Germany, France, Austria, Italy and the Ottoman Empire. The action is displayed and can easily be projected on a fully interactive animated war map! The map is easy to manipulate and the kids love to see their country conquer a new territory. The map also can indicate up to four different alliances. (I have included a PowerPoint map and a downloadable program, you can use either one.)
Teams have time for diplomacy and then the action begins. Countries may choose to trade, build-up their military, form alliances, declare war or attack. Countries can also form alliances and attack or defend together.
Each team will be given the game directions, and a country strategy sheet. This sheet reveals what their goals are and how they can win the game. The goals are designed to be accurate representations of the real security interests for these nations at this time. When the game is over, the students will also fill out a game review sheet.
You will also receive a teacher FAQ sheet. This goes over the ins and outs of the game so that you can feel ready to facilitate the learning effectively.
The outcomes of the game will be so different class to class. It will be exciting to your students and interesting for you!
This product works great with many of the other materials in my World War I unit. I invite you to check it out:
