Young people love watching movies, and there are many great movies that take place in the context of WWII. Some are bloody and gory; some are romantic and inspiring. This editable assignment asks students to choose a movie about the WWII era and complete an analysis. They answer a series of questions about the movie, the context and characters, and historical accuracy.
At the end they are asked to relate an aspect of the movie to each of the five Social Studies typologies: Society-Culture, Politics, Economics, Geography, and Technology. These terms will need to be defined and discussed beforehand. Definitions of the typologies are included at the end of the resource. By including the typologies, students are required to watch and analyze the movie critically.
The assignment can be edited for any time period, such as WWI. The teacher will need to decide how much each question is worth, as I've left that to the teacher's discretion.
