Product Description
This is a close reading of the poem "In Response to Executive Order 9066: All Americans of Japanese Decent Must Report to Relocation Centers" by Dwight Okita. Included is a two-page lesson plan and a copy of the poem. The lesson plan has before, during, and after reading activities; as well as 3 extension activities. It will most likely take multiple days depending on how long your class periods are. This is a great way to integrate Common Core into your social studies or ELA classroom. It does not necessarily have to be taught during a WWII lesson, it is great as a stand alone activity as well. Based on activities from a workshop with Laura Robb.
