Product Description

This editable assignment asks students to look at World War One through poetry. They are asked to answer questions about two WW1 poems and then create their own poem from a WW 1 perspective. They get to choose the poems. They need to research the authors as well as the contexts that the poems address. They are also asked to consider literary devices. You can provide the poems for them, or let them search them up easily on the internet or in books. There are hundreds of poems that relate to WW 1.

This assignment can be used in English or History class, and is a great one for around Remembrance/Veterans Day. Because it is editable, you can change the marks breakdown or anything else.

I would typically allow two full (60-80min) classes for this, plus some extra time at home.

I have included two ideas for examples you could do with the class on the second page of the resource.
