This activity supports TEK 3.3H, in which students are asked to compare fractions with the same numerator OR same denominator using number lines, objects, picture models, and symbols. Students are also asked to justify their reasoning. This activity has 8 task cards in which students are asked a question (ex: Would you rather have 1/8 of a pizza or 7/8 of a pizza?), and then asked to represent their findings using number lines, fraction bars, and area models. Then students record using symbols and then justify in words how they would answer the question given. This activity would be great for small groups, math centers, or whole group instruction.
