These 16 thought-provoking Would You Rather activities are designed to encourage critical thinking, promote meaningful conversation, and to engage and inspire students. All questions relate to kindness and encourage students to consider which of two options is most important to them, explain their opinion, and talk it out with a partner or group. Would You Rather activities allow students to collaborate in a fun, meaningful way.
These activities can be used in a variety of ways, including as a weekly bell ringer, a center activity, or a fun homework assignment. First, students read two choices and decide which one they prefer. Then, they explain their choice by supporting it with reasons and details. Finally, students engage in a partner, small group, or whole group “Listen and Share” session related to the topic. Afterwards, they write what they learned from others and whether their thinking changed.
This Would You Rather resource offers a great opportunity for teachers to discover what is important to their students and to inspire students to reflect on the topic of kindness. By embracing that there are no wrong answers, only opportunities to learn more about students, teachers can build meaningful connections with their students.
