Are you looking for something to pep up your daily math numeracy routine? Do you need a fun and engaging math warm-up? Do you want to get your students excited and thinking deeply about math concepts? These 'Would You Rather' math questions are the BEST way to achieve engaging and critical math thinking skills! Each slide presents a 'Would You Rather' question with two options. Students must think critically between the two options, make their choice, and justify their choice verbally.

This product covers 8 different math topics:

  • Place Value
  • Addition & Subtraction
  • Multiplication & Division Models
  • Multiplication & Division Problem Solving
  • Time
  • Fractions
  • Money
  • Area & Perimeter

56 SLIDES/QUESTIONS IN ALL! Each of the 8 math topics includes 7 Would You Rather slides/questions. Some example questions include:

  • Would you rather swim with sharks for 11 minutes a day for 4 days, OR swim with sharks for only 4 minutes a day for 10 days?
  • Would you rather earn 1,845 tickets at an arcade game and then find 378 tickets on the ground, OR earn 2,275 tickets at an arcade game and then lose 357 tickets on the ground?
  • Would you rather go to sleep at 11:30 p.m. and wake up at the 7:15 a.m., OR go to sleep at 9:00 p.m. and wake up at 6:00 a.m.?
  • Would you rather split one donut equally between two friends, OR split two same-size donuts equally between four friends?
  • Would you rather have 6 quarters, 3 dimes, 3 nickels, and 5 pennies, OR have two one-dollar bills?
  • Would you rather have your rectangular dream bedroom with a width of 12 feet and length of 7 feet, OR a width of 11 feet and a length of 8 feet?

There are SO many ways to use this product:

  • digitally assign to students on desired learning platform and students type their responses
  • project on classroom board and hold a whole-group numeracy routine time
  • print out slides on paper and have students respond independently as a formative assessment
  • math/number talks
  • journal prompts
  • daily numeracy routines
