There are four parts:
1. The poem
2. The smartboard file of broken up poem to go over with students
3. The close reading Hesperus File
4. The Common Core Standards
I have the students listen to the poem (link in smartboard lesson), than we talk about it. I have them listen again and take notes on the close reading paper (in pencil).
The next day, I read the poem replacing some of the difficult language. The students break up into groups to go over the close reading together. I switch the groups three times.
The next day, we go over the poem as a class.
