The Wright Brothers, Their Lives and Times is designed as a multi-purpose informational reading and writing unit for upper elementary students. This resource would be useful as informational text in an ELA class or for a Social Studies or STEM class. Each of the four texts can be used alone (but in sequence): they could be assigned as the teacher wishes: in class over a couple of days or more, as homework, as independent projects, etc.
---The texts are chronological:
Part 1 – Introducing the Wright Brothers
Part 2 – Wilbur and Orville: Young Businessmen
Part 3 – Preparing for Flight
Part 4 – Success!
---The first three texts include a short pre-reading question and each text has:
a page of questions (inference, factual, and opinion) with a short creative writing task;
a page of vocabulary and language use work.
A full answer key is included for all objective work.
Please do check the preview in order to assess whether this resource would be suitable for your class.
