This is a step-by-step guide on how to teach children to write a paragraph. I have included a weekly plan with explicit directions for each day. I have used this approach in my own classroom and have seen dramatic results in writing. All of my students have significant learning disabilities and this approach has enabled them to make amazing gains in their writing.
I have also included instructions for how to use this process to teach children to write multiple paragraphs on the same topic.
Picture Paragraph and narrative writing prompts are also included, but this approach can be used with any topic.
