Pictures tell a story. “Write All About It!” August is a collection of 4 different themed pictures. This activity is great to use to enhance your writing instruction. It allows every student to participate in naming objects and discussing what they see in a given picture. This August Unit includes 4 pictures with a "Back to School" theme. There is a picture in color, the same picture in black and white and a smaller version of the picture for students to make their own chart. You may print out the colored or black and white picture and display it on chart paper or you may use the pictures with your document camera and white board. To use, students take turns naming things that they see in the picture. You will then "sound out" or spell the word and write it on the chart. Students will see, hear and say letters and words. Discussing pictures and naming objects in the picture will help your students develop thinking skills that will enhance comprehension. This activity will help increase oral language and vocabulary. Students will see correct letter formation and see the written form of words and sentences. Students will learn new words and through discussion, students will talk about characters, setting, main idea, sequence and other important reading comprehension skills. There are four pictures included so you can focus on one picture each week for an entire month. There are complete instructions on how to use Write All About It! and an example chart included in the unit. Look for more themed "Write All About It!" units in my Teachers Pay Teachers Store!
