In this activity students work in groups of 4 to practice plotting and labeling points, using slope and writing equations of lines in point slope form; they plot and label points using a slope to graph a line and then write the equation of the line.
Each student in the group has a different task as follows:
A. This student plots and labels the point from their card onto the coordinate plane on the recording sheet.
B. This student checks that the starting point is in the correct spot and is correctly labeled with an ordered pair. Then they use the slope to plot two more points.
C. This student checks that the two new points are in the correct spot and labels the points as ordered pairs (x, y). Then they draw the line by connecting the points.
D.This student writes the equation of the line in point-slope form and then gives it to the person with the A card to check for correctness.
After each group has completed one graph, they will switch and form new groups and complete the activity again. Groups will keep switching and repeating the activity until each student has had the opportunity to complete all 4 tasks.
