Word Families are kind of like our families. We each have a first name, but we share a common last name. Word Families share the same ending, with only the first part of the word changing.
I made these worksheets for my Kindergarten class to help them be able to identify Word Families, and to understand the concept that the ending of the words remain the same, and only the first part changes.
I would often have the students pick a favorite color pencil and use it to write the last part of the word family in that color, so they would see the relationship of word families, as well as be able to hear the relationship and then read them.
These 9 pages have 27 separate word families that students can write. They do incorporate some words that begin with blends, for additional emphasis.
