Product Description
Connect with one of your favorite beginning of the year books (Chicka Chicka Book Boom!) with this 13 page number writing unit. "Coconutty Numbers" contains a page for each number to ten as well as pages for writing 0-5, 5-10 and 0-10. The pages provide opportunity for meeting additional Common Core Standards in the following ways:

1. Count the coconuts in the tree. Discuss that the last umber said is the number that tells how many.
K.CC.4 Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities.
K.CC.5 Count to answer “How many?”

2. Discuss the coconuts in and under the tree. Ask students to tell about the two groups and how they make the number. Ask what the groups would be if one more coconut fell, or if there were one more in the tree.
K.OA.3 Decompose numbers equal to or less than ten into pairs in more than one way.

3. Discussion of the ones within the ten frame. Ask learners to determine how m any more will make ten. They may X the boxes to help count.
K.OA.4 For any number 1-9, find the number that makes ten when added to the given number.

4. Find the word that also says the number.
