This is a fun sight word and color word activity that can be used for St. Patrick’s Day. These 30 words are selected from the Kindergarten Pre-Primer list of 47 words. This activity is designed to use 10 words at a time. With 30 words, this activity can be used three times with a different set of words each time.
The students’ mission is to look around the classroom for each green shamrock. As they find the shamrocks, they will find a sight word on each one. Using the recording sheet, they then write the sight word in the rectangle or space (or on the line) next to the shamrock with the same number. The goal is for the students to complete the recording sheet. This is an excellent opportunity for your students to practice reading sight words.
To prepare this activity, print the shamrocks provided on green paper. Laminate, if desired, and cut out the shamrocks. Number the shamrocks from 1 to 10 (on the front) and mount the shamrocks around your classroom. The shamrocks are not pre-numbered as I wanted you to be able to group the shamrocks as you desire to accommodate the specific needs of your students.
I have included three different recording sheets, as well as, a sheet of plain white shamrocks so you may adapt this activity to fit the varying needs of your students. .
