This is a 2 page worksheet activity focusing on helping students understand the content of a story (sequence of events or character motivations) and non-fiction content from science/social studies.
The teacher chunks the text, reads it slowly, and the students write what they heard and even take time to sketch that information. The teacher confirms this information when reconstructing the text through responses given in whole class discussion. The students can keep these notes as reference.
The teacher can also pick complex passages and under the write column write the individual sentences. Then, together as a class through discussion, draw pictures that represent that part of the passage.
Can be used across the disciplines.
This can be a whole class, jigsaw, or partner activity.
PLEASE NOTE: The font used is Century Gothic. Also, when I uploaded this resource it appears the page formatting is misaligned in the thumbnail images. The file I upload has 2 individual pages.
