Whenever we do write the room, my students are so engaged! They love scrambled sentences as well so putting the two together equals super student engagement!
For this activity, students will choose a picture from their recording sheet and then walk around the room looking for the words that match that picture. They will read the first word and then write it on the line beside the corresponding picture. They will continue until they have found all of the words that match that picture. They will then read their sentence. They will repeat this process for the remaining sentences. You can also place all the sentences in a bag, have students sort by picture, and then order them.
This center is simple prep: print, cut, and display the word cards around the room. Print the recording sheet front to back to save on paper.
-'I can' chart to remind students what to do
-Word cards to support student writing
-Informational Writing Prompts
I hope your students enjoy this as much as mine do! :) It is fun and engaging while practicing the following common core standards:
RF.1.1a- Recognize the distinguishing features of a sentence (e.g., first word, capitalization, ending punctuation).
RF.1.3g- Recognize and read grade-appropriate irregularly spelled words.
