Have a Read the Room or Write the Room station in your classroom? Here's a template that will allow you to write in (or let the student write in) a previously taught phonics skill (words with -ar, -ing, long a/a_e, etc.) to guide their search in the room. Make a bunch of copies and put 10 or more pages in a Write the Room book for each student and after they finish the 2 pages on 2 different skills, they can start a new page with 2 different skills to look for each time they visit this station. This is a good way to keep students focused because even though the activity itself doesn't change very much from week to week, their skill focus changes so they're looking for something different. Great in K-2 Classrooms!
Give this template a try and let me know if you have any suggestions!
