Like many teachers I was using composition notebooks for Writer's Workshop. But when I gave my students a list of transition words or a handout for a min-lesson, we had another composition notebook. So I had a thought, I wanted these to be combined in one awesome resource, so that students could have everything all together. They could have their word lists, rough drafts, final copies, mini lessons all in one place and they can add plenty of notebook paper when they need it. It worked like a charm! So I progressively put together this packet as I went along and it worked great. The other thing that works well with switching to binders instead of composition notebooks, my students like to write on the floor. The binder is easy to move with students and acts as a hard surface for writing.
