If you teach Writing Workshop, these tools can help you manage and effectively utilize the Writer's Notebook.
This includes a Table of Contents, for students to attach to their notebook and keep track of entries. Students can quickly list when the entries were written, where the entries are, what they are about, and what role they will play in developing writing skills. Without being overly burdened, students can quickly look back and find what they need, when they need it. A sample of a completed Table of Contents is provided, with instructions.
This also includes a corresponding Rubric where you could easily assess the use of the notebook, and assign a number grade. When presented to students, this rubric helps to encourage organization and effective use of the notebook.
