What educators are saying

The file contained more than I expected. They are age appropriate to my class but could be used for grade 1 and grade 4. This has pretty much everything you need to set up a writers notebook.
We're loving it. It fits our needs perfectly. I have gotten at least 50 times the value from Writers Notebook Writing 2nd & 3rd Grade. Definitely worth the investment.

Description

Help your students learn to write using a writer's notebook. Step by step lessons and ideas that engage even the most reluctant writers.

This writer's notebook is very detailed and includes lessons on many curricular outcomes for writing, listening and speaking and language. Each learning outcome is identified as a focus with supporting outcomes listed as well.

Writing lessons are taught in a fun way by combining the writing standards with the write traits using children's literature that YOU choose to use. This is suitable for 2nd and 3rd grade although I have had teachers tell me they've used it with 1st grade and even adapted it for 4th grade.

This writer's notebook is a great fit for any Writing Workshop.

These lessons are very flexible in terms of how you choose to group your children. They can be done individually, in partners and there is even a lesson with whole class input.

If you would like to use these lessons again as a follow up in a literacy or Daily 5 center, this works perfectly.

The writing traits include:

  • writing ideas
  • word choice
  • sentence fluency
  • organization
  • voice
