Writer's Workshop writing teaching is done using Anchor Charts. These anchor charts are then posted around the room (sometimes laminated and placed into a binder) so that children can review them as often as necessary. This also accounts for absences. Anchor Charts are the critical teaching element of Writer’s Workshop. Anchor Charts are used to teach mini-lessons and they address all traditional forms of writing – language usage, grammar, punctuation, spelling, mechanics – while also addressing the traits of good writing.
There are four types of mini-lessons:
procedures and organization
strategies and processes
craft and techniques
These anchor charts focus on launching Writer's Workshop in your classroom - the first 11 days of teaching.
