Product Description

One of my favorite things to do with my students, is to sit down for a conference. It's a chance to get to know your students really well and get an insight into who they are as a writer, as well as, what they really need to work on to make them a better writer. However, conferences are also super hard to plan for and they take a lot of prep work. This bundle comes with all of the Kindergarten convention standards from TC, including:

I used what I knew about spelling patterns to spell a word.

I spelled all the word wall words correctly.

I used the word wall to help me figure out how to spell other words.

I used quotation marks to show what characters said.

When I used words such as can’t and don’t, I put in the apostrophe

This bundle comes with illustrated cards for each standard that you can use to help your students become independent in monitoring their own progress with conventions. I have created the cards in several formats to fit your classroom, including:

Option 1: 3.5" x 2" inch cards. They fit perfectly in business card sheet protectors, for

easy use, and the ability to interchange goals. Or you could laminate them

and put them on a binder ring of goals.

Option 2: 7" x 5" card - I personally used this size and would put them in zipper pockets

inside my students writing folders. These zipper pockets also contained items

such as personal pencils, spacers, punctuation pops, editing pens, and/or dry

erase markers, just to name a few. I would put one goal at a time to help the

student focus and master one skill before moving on to the next.

Option 3: A single sheet containing all of the convention standards. This can be used

to self assess, set goals, or blown up to become an anchor chart.

There is also a recording sheet included that will help you track your conferences. It could also be used by students to set goals.
