This is an easy way to organize your Writer's Workshop! Each child needs two 2-pocket folders. One is folded inside of the other and then bound together with a comb binding. After gluing the pages on the front and back of the folders, I laminated the folders before binding them. Then I used the same classroom set of folders for a few years until they started falling apart!
Here is what is included:
Cover page (on front)
Idea Page (on front of second folder, inside of the first folder)
Rainbow Editing (on back of the second folder, inside of the first folder)
6 + 1 Writing Traits (on back of second folder, very back of book)
Brainstorm page--part of Prewriting
Story Board--part of Prewriting
Have-a-go Sheet--part of Rainbow Editing
Labels for each pocket folder (Prewriting, Writing, Revising & Editing, and Publish)
Students keep their work in the folder according to what they are working on. Brainstorm pages and storyboards stay in the Prewriting pocket. Writing pages stay in the Writing pocket. Have-a-go and editing work stay in the Revising & Editing pocket, and their published work stays in the Publishing pocket while they are working on it.
