Writer's Workshop introduces writing in a developmentally appropriate way. It's also a great way to integrate L. Arts common standards on a daily basis. Each lesson uses the Gradual Release Model (scaffolding approach) (I Do, We Do, and You Do). It's a successful approach which begins with the teacher delivering instruction in a whole group setting and then gradually moves instruction to student-centered collaboration and then finally to independent practice.
Each lesson introduces the students to each stage of writing based on Sarah Cordova's writing process. Your class will always know where they are in the writing process.
Immersion of genre, Generating Ideas, Selecting an Idea, Drafting, Revision, Editing, and Publishing.
