Writer's Workshop introduces writing in a developmentally appropriate way. It's also a great way to integrate L. Arts common standards on a daily basis. Each lesson uses the Gradual Release Model (scaffolding approach) (I Do, We Do, and You Do). It's a successful approach which begins with the teacher delivering instruction in a whole group setting and then gradually moves instruction to student-centered collaboration and then finally to independent practice.
Each mini-lesson introduces the students to each stage of writing based on Sarah Cordova's writing process. Your class will always know where they are in the writing process.
