Students can reference this anchor chart on your walls or in their writer's notebooks. Remind students to "check their brain" and not listen to writer's block.
I first made this chart halfway through workshop last year, and I wish I made it from the beginning! You can make this an interactive activity by having students write their own "We think" phrases on sticky notes and attaching them to the chart. I hope this resource is helpful to your writers!
Check Your Brain!
Writer's Block Says...
- It has to be perfect!
- I need to finish today!
- I can't do this!
- Why bother?
- My goal is to work on ___ today!
-I can go back and revise tomorrow!
- Nobody's first draft is perfect. I can always come back to it!
