Writers Workshop This unit will open your students' writing world as they explore the many ways that they can present their polished writing to an audience. Students will learn about verbal and non verbal communication and why it is important. They will choose a way to present their writing in a format that builds on their strengths.

All units can be used as stand alone units. Used together, the skills are developed and scaffolded.

This resource is all about student choice. Students will choose writing they have completed or a new piece to showcase their communication and presentation skills. They will add to their presentation by choosing a method of presentation: a science board display that they will explain, a power point presentation on the iPad, using an app like Book Creator to put it all together, a read aloud of their favorite story that they have written, a musical or artistic representation.

This is the perfect end of the year writing wrap up whether you have used all of the Hooked on Writing sets or you are just trying this for the first time.

This writers workshop writing curriculum is part of a year long set designed to "hook" our students into loving the craft of writing. We want them to be engaged, motivated and successful. Each and every set will take you through the elements of a great writing program step by step.

This program is suitable for anyone teaching using the Write Traits and/or CCSS. It is is also perfect for Canadian/UK students with the alternate spelling included. This curriculum is aligned to the British Columbia ELA standards.

Hooked on Writing is not a unit full of writing prompts. It is a detailed and comprehensive curriculum with opportunities for choice, collaboration, and offers a growth mindset for writers.
