This product is designed to help young students with the writing process. It is loosely based on Lucy Calkin's Writer's Workshop model. I have tweaked it to fit the needs of my kindergarten students. This product can also be used with pre-K, 1st, and even 2nd graders. The cards included state the steps of the writing process:
1.) Picture Pre-Write (for young students, I consider the picture their pre-writing or gathering of their idea).
2.) Sentence Writing (I consider the writing of their sentence the "first draft.")
3.) Double Check (edit--for capitals, puncutation, etc.)
4.) Detail Check (revise- for adding details, etc.)
5.) Teacher Conference
6.) Publish and Share
I printed the cards and hot glued them on heavy duty paper plates. Students move their clothespin (with their name) to each plate as they complete each step of the writing process.
